Beginning at 9:05 a.m. on August 21 in Salem, Oregon, the Moon will slowly begin to move in front of the Sun, eventually covering it completely at 10:18. Totality — the time where the Moon fully eclipses the Sun — will last for approximately 1 minute, 54 seconds. For many, this will be a once in a lifetime event.

The purpose of this site is to disseminate information from the Marion County City of Salem (Oregon) Joint Information Center/System. Information regarding the August 21, 2017 eclipse will come from Marion County, City of Salem and other local, state and federal agencies. We will continually update this website as more information becomes available.
